The smallest state in the country by area is unarguably Rhode Island. This state measures only 3,144 square kilometers, i.e., about 1,214 square miles. The second smallest state is Delaware, which is about twice the size of Rhode Island.

According to the 2018 statistics, the smallest state by population is Wyoming. The official estimate of 2018 showed the population of Wyoming to be 579,315. Wyoming became a state of USA on the 10th of July, 1890. Cheyenne is the state capital as well as the largest city of Wyoming.
